Baščaršija is Sarajevo's old bazaar and historical and cultural center of the city. Baščaršija was built in the 15th century when Isa-Beg Isaković founded the town. Due to the large fire in the 19th century, today’s Baščaršija is half the size that it once was.
Natural reserve of Bjelasnica and Igman is located at a distance of only 25 km from Sarajevo. These are mountains where most of the competitions during XIV Winter Olympic Games in alpine and nordic skiing were held.
