This town was first time mentioned in written documents in 1444, and it is assumed that it has been built by Bosnian King Tvrtko in 1383. This medieval town had a Mediterranean look, but after the Turkish conquest town was redesigned in oriental style. The blend of these two architectural styles gives a specific look to Pocitelj. This unique resort is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list.
